Words of Praises for Ali Kantur by Phillippe Le Houerou

Mr. Phillippe Le Houerou's (Vice President of The World Bank)Speech in The Investment Advisory Council (IAC)for Turkey, June 10th 2010; "Last year I saw here in Turkey what innovation can achieve. At the Mamak waste processing site in Ankara, Mr. Ali Kantur adapted technologies creatively to turn garbage and bad smells into electricity and even tomatoes—plus profits and jobs! It is an example of how innovation can improve the environment, and be a source of economic growth."

World Bank sees future in a dump

The notoriously foul Mamak landfill is now the source of heat and energy for greenhouses outside Ankara thanks to aid from the World Bank and a garbage-recycling station. If Turkey can focus on alternative energy sources, it could create more jobs, says a World Bank deputy chief.
