The notoriously foul Mamak landfill is now the source of heat and energy for greenhouses outside Ankara thanks to aid from the World Bank and a garbage-recycling station. If Turkey can focus on alternative energy sources, it could create more jobs, says a World Bank deputy chief.
Recycling, disposal and rehabilitation methods that are contemporary, sustainable and consented through the world are put into practice by ITC Invest Trading & Consulting AG with "ITC Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems". The project is a combination of a series of sub-projects focused on recycling and rehabilitation, which ensures the disposal of solid wastes, rehabilitation of wild landfill areas, design and operation of sanitary landfill areas, energy production from methane and other gases, treatment of hazardous and medical wastes, recycling of packaging and excavation wastes, etc. The ultimate purpose of the executed projects is to decrease the amount of waste that have to be buried in landfill areas. Furthermore, research and development studies are ongoing for the application of innovative technologies for energy production from waste.
