Solution for Waste in Turkey
World Bank sees future in a dump
The notoriously foul Mamak landfill is now the source of heat and energy for greenhouses outside Ankara thanks to aid from the World Bank and a garbage-recycling station. If Turkey can focus on alternative energy sources, it could create more jobs, says a World Bank deputy chief.
Recycling plastic wastes with conventional methods requires huge amounts of energy, water and manpower. ITC has built plastic recycling plants by which the existing difficulties in waste recycling were reduced, an efficient system was built and high quality products were generated. Through this process, low density polyethylene (LDPE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS) are recycled as secondary raw materials.
